Are You Inadvertently Sabotaging Your Diet Plan?

By Vanessa Summer

We all understand that the most effective foods for our diets are lean meats, whole grains and healthy fats. These are the food items that will give us the energy and protein we need. They keep our bodies balanced nutritionally but don't stuff us full of empty calories which will later need to be burned off at the gym. Did you already know, though, that a few of the foods you are eating that are supposed to be perfectly acceptable by dietary standards, could be keeping you from losing weight at a good pace? They might be even adding unhealthy calories to your body! Check out some of the foods that might be helping you to accidentally sabotage your diet.

Sports Drinks may not be aiding you whatsoever. You have possibly been told that your sports drink is the proper way to replenish your body's electrolyte levels after a workout. Many medical professionals agree, nevertheless, that if your workout is less than ninety minutes, water is a fine way to do this. Sports drinks are loaded with sugar and calories and a massive amount of other things you don't need including artificial flavors and colors which defeat any attempts at eating only natural products. Choose chocolate milk for your drink as an alternative. The sugar in chocolate may help your muscles begin to repair themselves and the calcium in the milk will strengthen your bones.

Skip your protein shakes. Lots of individuals think that drinking a protein shake is a good way to curb cravings between meals. The truth of the matter is that if you are already eating a balanced diet all the protein shake does is overload your system with protein. No matter what others think, protein is not kept in the muscles, it is stored in your body as fat. This means that if you have already consumed too much protein that day, your system will simply store what it doesn't need in your fat cells and that doesn't help you lose weight or inches of your waist line at all.

Pre-packaged deli meat isn't really healthful at all. It's typically considered that a sandwich constructed of whole grain bread as well as lean pre-packaged deli meat is a pretty good lunch time item. The simple fact is that pre-packaged deli meat is loaded full of preservatives and about a third of your recommended daily sodium intake. This might be specifically problematic if you are prone to heart disease. Instead of picking deli meat, select home grilled chicken or other poultry or fresh deli meat that you can get sliced at the deli counter. Sure these types of selections are more expensive but they are much healthier for you in the long run.

There are a massive amount things that we assume will help us lose weight like eating a whole wheat bagel each morning but the truth is that eating a bowl of oatmeal sprinkled with cinnamon is a lot better for our health and waist lines. Ask a medical expert which elements are the finest to eat and then follow the directions you are given. If you pay attention and are watchful about which kind of food you let yourself eat, losing weight isn't going to be a terribly big deal.
