Does milk help you lose weight

Sadly, many dieters avoid milk and dairy products because they believe they will not be beneficial to them in losing weight. A new study by the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev has revealed that including more calcium in your meals can lead to continuous weight loss during the year.

Published inthe recent issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition their study discovered that drinking 12 ounces (580 g) of milk or other dairy related product every day assisted individuals to lose on average more than 12 lbs, whilst those who only ingested a glass of milk a day lost 7 lbs on average, and it would seem that their food intake had little or anything to do with these figures.

Whether they were maintaining a low fat, Mediterranean or low carb diet, all results seem to suggest that increased levels of dairy products helped them benefit from larger weight losses. In addition, nutritionist noticed that vitamin D blood levels also grew amongst dieters who lost more weight.

How can Vitamin D influence your diet?

Over three hundred obese men and women aged between 40 and 65 participated in this 2 year study, and all statistics indicate that vitamin D is closely related to weight loss. For instance, subjects who shed a small amount of weight continued to have lower levels of vitamin D in their blood, whilst those who continued to lose large amounts of body weight reported seeing higher levels of this essential nutrient in their blood.

Can you shed weight by ingesting more dairy products?
